S.O.W. focuses on the elderly people and takes actions to help them solve the difficulties in their daily life.
Senior Housing Maintenance is part of the programs at S.O.W. It is set to help elders who live alone in non-rental houses in need of simple home maintenance services. Experienced technicians volunteer to visit seniors’ homes at the seniors’ request and provide repairs as necessary. Areas that we are able to fund to inspect, repair and maintain include plumbing, electrical, doors and windows, kitchen and bathroom. During the winter/spring season of 2016 and 2017 with its more-than-usual rainfall and stormy weather, our team coordinated and provided free repairs for over 80 elders, living in San Francisco and Oakland of California, who had leaking roofs, electrical and plumbing issues, while caring for their safety and emotional well-being with community support.
The service is all year round and available to all upon requests for appointments. It is our goal to reach out to more churches in our network, expand our campaign efforts, and recruit more volunteer technicians, in order to provide repair services to elders in great need in the East and South Bay Area of California. All project are done on a voluntary basis.
